Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 hands-on review: een echt dun en licht apparaat

 Samsung has been in the foldable phone game longer than most manufacturers, but last year's releases felt a bit like treading water. Now, with the release of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Samsung seems to be back on track, competing directly with Honor and its excellent Magic V3 in the foldable phone space.

 
 
The 4,400mAh dual-cell Z Fold 7 measures just 8.9mm thick when folded and shaves down to 4.2mm when unfolded. The difference is immediately noticeable the moment you pick it up. The phone's thickness barely accommodates the USB-C port on the bottom edge; in fact, I'm not sure how you could have gotten away with a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage, or 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage without completely removing the USB port. Given the size constraints, increasing the battery capacity might be a bit of a stretch but the 4400mAh battery in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Cell Phone is the same as the battery in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 battery. Samsung claims this battery life is improved thanks to the improved efficiency of the Snapdragon chipset.


 

The best part about Samsung's software isn't the constant stream of cool new AI gadgets. It's that, like Samsung's S25 series phones, the Z Fold 7 comes with seven years of operating system and security updates, meaning it could potentially last until 2032.
